In today's headlines:
  • Port of Shelton Commission holds a special meeting tomorrow at 2 PM at 21 West Sanderson Way to nominate a candidate to fill the vacancy left by Dale Elmond's resignation last week.
  • Central Mason Fire and EMS will conduct a live fire training burn at 130 East Lighthouse Road on Wednesday and Thursday from 8 to 5, with heaviest smoke and fire activity expected between noon and 5 on the 30th.
  • Pedestrians and local traffic will have limited access in the Lighthouse Road area during the two-day training.
  • Afternoon sunshine today with a high near 59, and the rest of the week looks gorgeous across the South Sound.
In local sports:
Mariners swept the Cardinals 3-2 in St. Louis yesterday, improving to 15-15. Tonight they're in Minnesota — 3:30 pregame, 4:40 first pitch.

North Mason softball topped Bremerton 11-5 Friday. Sydney Imlay went 4-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBI; Addison Roy struck out 16. Bulldogs are 7-7. Shelton boys track came within a point of winning the Evergreen Conference meet, led by Madison Lohmeyer winning the 1500 and 3200. Shelton baseball fell to Aberdeen 14-5; Shelton softball shut out 10-0.

Today: North Mason softball at Sequim doubleheader (3:30), Shelton at Black Hills for softball and tennis, Kingston at North Mason baseball.
