Good mornings with Jeff Slakey, 10.30 KMAS Well, good Friday morning to you. Jeff Slakey here on KMAS. A beautiful spring day ahead today, mostly sunny skies, high around 65.
And looking into next week, we have got 10 days of beautiful weather. Not much in the news from the overnight, but a reminder, Port of Shelton Commissioner Dale Elmland has resigned from his Position 1 seat, effective April 22, in his letter of resignation. Due to family needs, he will be permanently relocating out of state.
He thanked his constituents, the fellow commissioners, and Port employees for the opportunity to serve. Port Commission accepted the resignation at their Tuesday meeting this week, and they heard from Port Attorney Skip Houser on the process to appoint someone to fill the remainder of Elmland's term. That term runs through December 31, 2027.
Commission has 90 days to make an appointment and is holding a special meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday to begin accepting letters of interest from Port District residents. In sports, Mariners back in action after a day off yesterday. They're on the road in St. Louis taking on the Cardinals.
4 o'clock pregame, 515 first pitch, right here on the radio with George Kirby getting the start. In local sports, with information from Mason Web TV. A tough Thursday for Mason County baseball and softball.
Shelton High Climbers fell at Tumwater 3-0. T-Birds pitcher Luke Overbay tossed a complete game, striking out 10 and allowing just one hit. That to Jacob Jacoby.
Shelton drops to 9-5 on the year. North Mason baseball lost at Bremerton 7-3. North Mason softball dropped a 2-1 decision at Port Angeles.
On the schedule for this Friday, Aberdeen at Shelton baseball at 4-30 on Mason Web TV. Boys soccer, Aberdeen at Shelton and Bremerton at North Mason both at 7. Girls tennis, track and field, golf and softball also on tap around the county. Again, a beautiful day today around the county.
Mostly sunny skies, high around 65. It's Friday and good morning to you. I'm Jeff Slakey here on KMAS.
